Dr. Lawrence Gans
Dr. Lawrence Gans, MD, FACS is an Eye Surgery Specialist. His surgical expertise includes cataract & lens implant surgery, corneal transplantation, treatment of glaucoma, ocular tumors and repair of trauma to the anterior segment of the eye. Dr. Gans received his medical degree from Case-Western Reserve University, followed by a medical internship and ophthalmology residency at Washington University. He completed a prestigious fellowship in Corneal & External Ocular Diseases at the Jules Stein Institute of UCLA and then returned to St. Louis. In 1981, Dr. Gans was appointed to the teaching faculty at Washington University where he taught eye surgery for the next 11 years and was appointed Chief of the University Eye Service. He is Board Certified as a Diplomat and Associate Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology and was awarded the Achievement Award of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of numerous local, state, national and international medical societies. As an instructor of eye surgery, he has lectured and demonstrated operations in over twelve countries on five continents. Dr. Gans has received the Life Fellow designation from the American Academy of Ophthalmology after 35 years of active membership. This designation makes him part of an elite group of Ophthalmologists who represent the gold standard in advancing high-quality, safe and effective eye care. Dr. Gans innovations in corneal, cataract, lens implantation and refractive surgery have been recognized by his peers, as he was named for the past three decades on St. Louis Magazine’s list of the Top Doctors in our area and by Who’s Who as one of the top doctors in the country. With over 40 years of experience in corneal, cataract, and lens implant surgery, Dr. Gans has been a pioneer in procedures to restore quality vision and to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
