Dr. Nancy Buchser
Nancy Buchser, M.D., is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist with extensive experience in ophthalmology. Originally from South Florida, Dr. Buchser attended the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Honors Program, where she earned her Medical Doctorate with Research Distinction. She completed her medical internship at the University of Miami, followed by a year-long Glaucoma Research Fellowship and a year-long Ocular Pathology Fellowship at the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, consistently ranked the top ophthalmology center in the nation. Her research in glaucoma screening devices, advanced imaging technologies, and surgical techniques has been presented at national conferences.
Dr. Buchser completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she received special recognition for her achievements. She then pursued advanced fellowship training in glaucoma at Washington University in St. Louis, further honing her expertise in the management of complex glaucoma cases.
Dr. Buchser is known for her warm and approachable manner, and she takes the time to listen carefully to her patients’ concerns. In addition to her compassionate approach, Dr. Buchser brings extensive experience in managing complex cataract and glaucoma surgeries and providing comprehensive ophthalmic care. She is committed to combining her surgical expertise with genuine empathy, helping each patient achieve the best possible outcomes for their vision and overall well-being.
Her surgical practice includes small-incision or femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, laser trabeculoplasty, trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage shunt implantation, and other minimally invasive glaucoma procedures. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Outside of work, Dr. Buchser enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and daughter, whether hiking the scenic trails around St. Louis or windsurfing in South Florida. Dr. Buchser is a music enthusiast, particularly enjoying jazz performances in St. Louis. As a member of the American Harp Society, she finds joy in playing harp music with friends. In the Spring, you’ll probably find Dr. Buchser cultivating her garden, which she considers a source of beauty and tranquility.
