Dr. Green
Dr. Wesley Green, M.D., M.S., is a cataract and glaucoma surgeon who joined Ideal Eye Surgery after years of serving the greater St. Louis area. Born in Austin, Texas, to a military family, he spent most of his childhood in Wisconsin near extended family. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences and Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse.
Originally pursuing a career in optometry, Dr. Green enrolled in a dual O.D./M.S. program at the State University of New York College of Optometry. While completing his master’s degree in Vision Sciences, he realized his true passion lay in surgical interventions and shifted his focus to becoming an ophthalmologist.
Dr. Green went on to earn his medical degree from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University, where he graduated first in his class and was inducted into both the Alpha Omega Alpha and Arnold P. Gold Humanism Honor Societies. He completed his internship at Aurora St. Luke’s in Milwaukee, followed by his ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. During residency, Dr. Green received the Ron Burde “Good Egg” Award, a peer-selected honor recognizing selflessness and dedication, as well as the Duan-Song Award for clinical and surgical excellence.
Dr. Green is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has authored over a dozen peer-reviewed publications on topics ranging from glaucoma management to resident education and traumatic brain injury. He has been proud to call St. Louis home since 2014, after a brief return to Wisconsin post-fellowship. He is excited to continue caring for patients in Greater St. Louis and Southwestern Illinois as part of the Ideal Eye Surgery team. Dr. Green offers advanced surgical options for both cataract and glaucoma patients, with a focus on achieving the safest and most effective outcomes.
